The counties around Lake Okeechobee have the highest product sales per farm. Many of these farms produce vegetables and nursery plants that are high in value compared to the acreage needed to grow them. Sugar produces far less in sales per acre, but the farms on which it is grown are enormous. Vegetables, particularly tomatoes, as well as nursery plants, account for high sales per farm in Gadsden County.
